Google Business Profile Creation and Optimization for Local Businesses

Your Google Business Profile is often the first thing a local customer sees, before they ever reach your website. I set up or optimize the profile so it is complete, accurate and consistent with the rest of your online presence. It works alongside the SEO work on the site itself rather than replacing it.

Why Your Google Business Profile Deserves Real Attention

A lot of Google Business Profiles are set up once, quickly, and never touched again. Categories are too broad, service areas are missing, and the business description reads like it was written in a hurry. Meanwhile, this is often the exact listing a customer compares against your competitors before deciding who to call.

A profile works best alongside a website that backs it up. If your current site is not doing that job, it is worth also looking at a new website build or rebuilding the one you have alongside this.

Signs Your Profile Needs Attention

What Profile Optimization Covers

Profile Setup and Verification Guidance

If your business is not yet claimed on Google, I guide you through creating and verifying the profile correctly from the start.

Categories and Business Information

Primary and secondary categories, service areas and business details are reviewed and set to accurately reflect what you actually offer.

Services and Business Description

Your listed services and business description are written clearly, covering what you do without padding them with repeated keywords.

Photos and Profile Completeness

Photos, business hours and other profile details are reviewed so the listing looks complete and current rather than abandoned.

How a Profile Optimization Project Runs

Business information, hours, service areas and contact details are filled in accurately and completely.

03

Optimize categories and services

Categories and listed services are set to properly reflect what your business offers.

Guide on ongoing upkeep

You get clear guidance on photos and review activity you can keep up yourself going forward.

No Guaranteed Map Pack Position

I do not promise a specific position in the local map pack or guaranteed placement above named competitors. Google determines local rankings using factors including relevance, distance and prominence, and distance from the searcher in particular is not something any optimization work can change.

What optimization can do is make sure your profile is not losing ground for reasons within your control: incomplete information, wrong categories or inconsistency with your website. This work connects directly to the technical and on-page SEO on your site, and to the way each trade page is structured, since local visibility depends on more than the profile alone.

Profiles matter most for trades where customers search the map, such as roofing companies, and recent builds show the website side of that work.

Questions About Google Business Profile

If you are not sure whether your profile is claimed or set up correctly, send your business name. Keeping the listing and the site consistent over time is part of ongoing maintenance.

Guides on keeping a listing accurate are planned for the blog.

No, and any provider promising a specific map pack position is not being straightforward. Google's local ranking factors include relevance, distance and prominence, and distance from each individual searcher cannot be controlled by profile optimization.

I provide guidance on requesting and responding to reviews as part of the profile setup, but ongoing review management and responses are typically something the business handles directly, since it involves real customer conversations.

This is common, especially if a previous agency or an employee set it up. Part of the process includes helping you regain proper ownership and access before optimization begins.

Consistency matters. Your business name, address and phone number should match between your profile and your website, and your website should reflect the same services listed on your profile. This is covered together with WordPress SEO services.

There is no fixed timeline. Profile changes are usually reflected by Google fairly quickly, but improved visibility also depends on your competition, review activity and how established your business already is locally.

Get Your Google Business Profile Optimized

Send your business name and current Google listing, if you have one. You will get a clear read on what needs attention. If the website is the weaker half, the other services cover that side.

I work on profiles for businesses across the service areas listed here.
