Best Contractor Website Designer on Fiverr: How to Choose the Right One

A plain guide for contractors comparing Fiverr website designers: how to read a gig, what the badges mean, what to check in a portfolio and what to put in the order. I sell website design on Fiverr myself, so I say where I fit and where I do not.

Short answer

The best contractor website designer on Fiverr for you is the one whose earlier sites look like your kind of business, whose gig says exactly what is included, and who builds on a platform your team can edit. Rating and badges help you make a shortlist. They do not replace opening the portfolio sites on your phone and trying to call the number.

I design contractor websites on Fiverr myself, so treat the section near the end as something you can check, not a ranking.

What a contractor website has to do before it looks good

A homeowner with a leaking tap, a cracked driveway or a kitchen plan does not browse. In a few seconds they ask four things: do you do this job, do you work in my area, can I trust you, and how do I reach you. Every design choice either answers one of those questions or gets in the way.

  • Services: one page for each main job, named the way customers search for it.
  • Area: the towns or counties you really cover, stated plainly.
  • Proof: real project photos, license details you hold and reviews you can point to.
  • Contact: a tappable phone number and a short form on the pages that matter.

A designer who talks about animations and colors before asking which jobs pay your bills is giving you a signal. Good contractor designers ask about your best jobs first. If you want to see how I structure these pages, my contractor website design page lays it out.

How to read a Fiverr contractor gig

Search Fiverr for contractor websites and you will see long titles that name many trades at once. On the roofing website category page in October 2026, ten gig titles in a row mentioned roofing next to construction, plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, electrician or handyman work, and starting prices ran from $80 to $450. A long trade list is mostly how sellers get found in search. It is not a warning by itself, but it means the title tells you almost nothing about fit. The portfolio does.

What the Fiverr badges mean, and what they do not

Fiverr describes Top Rated as a level for freelancers recognized for quality and service. To be reviewed, a seller needs to be Level 2 with a success score of 9, a rating of 4.7, a 90% response rate and 40 orders, and Fiverr’s team then reviews each seller individually (Fiverr: Top Rated freelancers). Fiverr Pro, shown as Vetted Pro, is a separate badge for sellers Fiverr has vetted (Fiverr: Pro badge and benefits). The standard level system is explained in Fiverr’s guide to freelancer levels.

These badges tell you Fiverr has looked at the seller’s record. They do not tell you the seller has built a site for a contractor. Use badges to shortlist and the portfolio to decide. Trade specialist or general web designer?

OptionStrengthWatch for
Trade specialistKnows the pages, wording and questions customers ask. A short brief is enough.Sites can look alike. Check that your brand will not disappear into a template.
General web designerFresh visual ideas and flexible layouts.Needs more direction on service pages, areas and trust items.
Multi-trade builder with proofHas built for several trades and can show each one. Brings patterns that work.Ask for an example in your trade, not just the longest list.

For most small and mid-size contractors the third group is a sensible middle: someone who has built for several trades and can show you each one.

Check the portfolio on your phone, not on the gig page

A Fiverr portfolio is a set of screenshots. Screenshots hide almost everything that matters. Ask for the live links and test them yourself:

  1. Open the site on your phone. Can you tap the phone number without scrolling or opening a menu?
  2. Look for a page for each service and a clear list of areas, rather than one long services page.
  3. Look for real photos of finished work. Stock photos of smiling workers are a weak sign.
  4. Count the form fields. Four or five is usually enough for a first enquiry.
  5. Check how it loads on mobile data. Google’s Core Web Vitals guide explains what to look for: loading, responsiveness and layout stability.
  6. Ask whether the site is still live and who you could message about the designer. A reference beats a screenshot.

What the order should include

  • The list of pages, with who writes the text for each.
  • Mobile layout, including a tappable phone number and quote button.
  • Contact forms and where the enquiries are sent.
  • Basic on-page SEO set up: page titles, descriptions, headings, image names and schema where it fits.
  • Speed work: image compression and sensible caching.
  • A staging link to review before launch.
  • Handover of logins, with you as the owner of the domain and hosting.
  • A short walkthrough so your team can edit text and add projects.

Some contractor gigs build on Wix and others on WordPress. Both can work. WordPress with Elementor gives you page by page control and no per-site lock in; hosted builders are simpler to start with. Whatever the platform, ask who owns the logins, whether you can add a project yourself and what happens to the site if you stop working with the designer. If your site already exists and mainly needs to load faster, that is a different job, and I list a separate WordPress speed and optimization gig for it.

What a contractor website costs on Fiverr

Starting prices on the trade website listings I checked ran from $80 to $450 for a basic package, and my own contractor gig started at $225 in October 2026. The final figure depends on the number of pages, who writes the text, photos, forms, integrations and whether an existing site has to be moved. A very low starting price usually covers a one page or template build. That can be fine for a new business with one service and a small budget. If you work across several services and towns, expect to pay for more pages and the time it takes to write them properly.

Keep payment and communication inside Fiverr until an order exists. Fiverr asks that payments stay on the platform, and doing so keeps its order protections in place.

Ten questions to ask before you order

  1. Can you show two live websites for businesses like mine?
  2. Which pages will the site have, and who writes the text?
  3. What do you need from me, and by when?
  4. Will the phone number and quote button show on every page on mobile?
  5. What does your SEO setup include, in a list?
  6. Which platform will you use, and why?
  7. Who owns the domain, hosting and WordPress logins?
  8. How many revisions are included, and what counts as one?
  9. Will I see a staging link before launch?
  10. What help do I get after launch if something breaks?

Red flags worth walking away from

  • A portfolio of designs with no live links.
  • A promise of page one rankings in a set number of days. Google says plainly that no one can guarantee a number one ranking.
  • A request to move the chat or the payment off Fiverr before an order exists.
  • No clear answer on who owns the domain and logins.
  • The same template shown for every trade with only the logo changed.
  • Answers to your questions that only point back to the gig description.

Where I fit, and the evidence you can check

I am Arslan Kalwar. I build WordPress websites with Elementor for contractors and home service businesses, and I sell that work on Fiverr, so weigh this section knowing I benefit if you hire me. Here is what you can check yourself, as of October 2026:

  • My Fiverr profile shows the Vetted Pro and Top Rated badges, a 4.8 rating from 483 reviews and an average response time of 1 hour (checked October 2026). These figures change, so check the live Fiverr profile before you rely on them.
  • My contractor gig is titled “I will build contractor construction plumbing roofing electrician website design” and started at $225 when I checked in October 2026.
  • I am credited as a WordPress Core contributor across six Core releases. The WordPress contributions page explains what that involves.
  • The portfolio has live case studies for several trades, including Complete Coast Plumbing, WindowLab and Goodman Roofing.

I do not promise rankings, lead numbers or traffic, and the portfolio does not show them. If your current site only needs fixing, I will say so rather than sell you a rebuild. I am a poor fit if you want the lowest price on Fiverr, a mobile app or a large custom web application. If you work in roofing or in commercial building, the dedicated guides cover those cases in more depth: hiring a roofing website designer on Fiverr and hiring a construction website designer on Fiverr.

I am Arslan Kalwar, a WordPress and Elementor website designer. I have worked with WordPress for 8+ years and have completed 1,200+ projects, mostly for local service businesses. This article is published on my own website, so it is not an independent ranking. You can read more on my about page.

Questions Contractors Ask Before Hiring on Fiverr

Short answers to the questions I hear most from contractors who are comparing Fiverr designers.

It can be, if you use it as a shortlisting tool. Fiverr gives you reviews, badges and a payment structure, which lowers risk. Quality still varies widely, so open live portfolio sites on your phone before you order.

No. Hosted builders can work for a small site. WordPress with Elementor tends to suit contractors who want separate service pages, project pages and local pages they can grow over time, and who want to own the site outright.

Ask for two live links in your trade, then check them on a phone. Look for a service page for each job, a visible phone number and real photos. A designer with real experience can also tell you what they would change on each site.

Build level SEO, yes: page titles, headings, URLs, schema and speed. Ongoing work such as content, links and Google Business Profile is separate work. Nobody can promise a ranking, so treat any promise like that as a red flag.

You should. Ask for the registrar account and hosting to be in your name, with admin access handed over at launch. That way you can move the site or change designers later without negotiating.

Your logo, a list of services in order of importance, the areas you cover, the licenses and insurance you hold, a few real project photos, your best reviews and the address of your current site if you have one.
